Halloween

Fact: we NEVER have had a trick-or-treater visit our farm.

We had a busy day, running errands and doing things around the house (inside and out!) and it did take all day. Again chasing daylight, I feel this is the absolute last day of summer. Clocks gets changed back and will be dark before I get home in the evening.

The weather has been pretty nice, considering November is right next door. We needed the rain we got mid-week but the leaves really took a beating. Even the green ones fell. We spent a good part of the morning moving leaves around the yard.

Rainy Night

Started raining very late in the day, but the temps were pretty warm. The high was 65, the low was 61. He got the leaf blower out and cleared out the gutters and the patio.

Remnants of Hurricane Patricia were hitting us, and by 8:00 p.m. it was raining heavily with a strong, gusty wind. I left the horses in for about two hours while it came down in buckets. Kept checking the basement and the exterior stairwell, but we were fairly dry. We got nearly three inches of rain before it stopped around 9:30.

Last Sunday in October ~ Ride Time

Woodstock Inn - overcast until late in the day. The leaves are still beautiful.

Saturday - Odds and Ends

Had some 'honey-do' things going on today, grocery stores and like that. But had the good fortune to do a late afternoon ride!

We did some trail clearing behind our place. My hands look like I have a mean cat, which I don't. The multi-flora is ferocious in this neck of the woods.
This is the 'Chrome Mine' that is just on the edge of the park. The chrome rocks are still in abundance, shiny and green.

Cold Sunday Ride Time

Frost overnight, breezy and cold. Early sunshine gave way to low dark clouds and a brief rain shower. We again went to Beck's for lunch.
Our normal haunt was hosting a biker bash, and we've gone to them in the past, but opted not to go and ride to Sykesville, down Main Street, and go on the newly renovated old trail.

Sweet Air

Harford County: We've never ridden at Sweet Air, A section of the Gunpowder State Park. It is not exactly close by, but it is a lovely area.
We had a map and got misplaced a couple, few times.
We ate lunch in the saddle, in the middle of the Gunpowder River, because we didn't know there were picnic tables with hitching posts just a little further up the trail.
On the way home we got caught up in rush hour traffic on the Baltimore beltway, but it wasn't as bad as we believed it was going to be.

Sunday Patapsco River State Park

Parked at Marriottsville - naturally a train has to whistle through while we are tacking up in the parking lot.

KC was so good, so smooth, and changed up and rode Skip back from the meadow edge, along the river and to the trailer.
The day was beautiful, from beginning to end.

Friday Ride Time!

Little Bennett Regional Park

Great ride in this local park, we haven't been there in a while and really enjoyed the recent reroutes of overused and unsustainable trails.

Errands in the Rain

We ran errands today, because there is not much else we can do around here. Grocery, running here and there, the mall. He even bought a new pair of pants! I can honestly say I haven't been in a clothing store in a couple years and like I've said in the past, "seeing is wanting."

We came home in the persistent rain and finished watching a movie. My fingers are wrinkled.

Cold, Wet

Right on cue, KC has started his winter coat. It seemed like overnight, too. The hurricane is going to miss us, but the Nor'easter did not.

I left the boys out in the field for the night because it is too wet to leave them in the 'dry' paddock, that being not so dry. The basement has dried out and we are now using the new de-humidifier, works like a champ!
