Finished - FINALLY (not really)

Got the gate hung, now new dry paddock is secured. Topped the gravel with stonedust. Dug the square hole for the gate post by hand. It was in a tight spot, and he was just doing a small pilot hole, to see if it was obstructed by rocks, roots, concrete, or anything. It was not, so we dug it with a pry-bar and post-hole digger.

Skip and KC inspected the new shed and love the windows. And it's so roomy!! Only a couple things to tweak but technically finished.

Next up. Max's fenced in area.

October Arrives

Daylight is slipping away. Getting dark so early, we have to hurry around the place, watch a spectacular sunset, and then it is done.

Our next 'big' project is installing fencing for Max, the resident dog. He's now an only child and has focus issues. That has nothing to do with his eyesight. He has seriously high prey-drive and is always on high alert when Irene is up and about. He has never hurt her, although sometimes his nose has scabs.

He is not trustworthy with the horses, either. If they move, he lunges and barks. He will be three in December.

Our next project is to fence in a 60 x 100 foot area, with the traditional 4-board oak fencing, 8-foot on center, but install wire mesh between the boards and the face board. No climb style. Hopefully he won't jump out of it all together; if he does we'll have to put him in special training.

This area will have enough room for Frisbee, which he was pretty good at when he was a puppy, and to set up our old dog-agility equipment. He needs more exercise with direction, and can't be off-leash because of his 'focus' issues.

Sunday - Work Work Work

My spine is seeking legal counsel. Don't blame it, been misused and ill-treated. The dirt is like chocolate cake mix, but the trench is only about 8 inches wide, at the most, so the repetition of shoveling is wearing my back out.

The PEX pipe must be set at least 24 inches deep, the electric conduit at eighteen inches. The trench is so narrow it is hard to get one leg in it, except for the junctions or curve.

While putting the horses out, together, the two of them were fussing at each other and Skip swung around and got his leg in the trench. The rock wall and narrow trench was just big enough to take his back leg and scrape the hair right off. I had to literally pull him out by his halter and lead rope. I put Wonder Dust on the wounds.
